Wine Bar Front of House Staff Job Description

Job Title: Front of House Staff (Server/Bar-Back/Host)


Job Summary: As a vital member of our front of house team, you will be the face of our wine bar, dedicated to providing guests with a memorable and exceptional experience. This role requires a passion for wine and hospitality, a positive attitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Services & Interaction: Warmly greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and ensure a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere throughout their visit.

Wine & Menu Expertise: Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of our wine list, food menu, and daily specials, including tasting notes, origins, and perfect food pairings. Confidently offer recommendations to guests based on their preferences and assist with the proper opening and pouring of wine. Must attend all wine and food trainings.

Order & Payment Processing: Accurately take food and drink orders and input them into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Handle cash and credit card transactions responsibly and efficiently.

Beverage Preparation & Service: Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, focusing on wine but options for beer, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.

Cleanliness & Organization: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all FOH areas, including the bar, dining room, and restrooms. Stock glassware, supplies, and merchandise as needed.

Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively with fellow FOH and BOH staff to ensure seamless service flow and a positive working environment. Participate in pre-shift meetings and ongoing training sessions.

Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal alcohol service laws and regulations, including checking identification to verify legal drinking age and monitoring guest alcohol consumption. NH state MTS course will be required.

Problem-Solving: Address guest complaints and concerns with professionalism and empathy, resolving issues quickly to ensure guest satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills:

Proven experience in a hospitality or customer service role, preferably within a bar, catering or restaurant setting.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.Solid knowledge of wine and general beer knowledge; wine certifications a plus but not mandatory as training will be provided.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining composure and attention to detail.Proficiency with POS systems and restaurant server software like Toast/Clover.Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/maneuver items (e.g., cases of wine, trays).Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays and willingness to work as server, bar back or host/cellar master as needed. 

Line Cook 

Position Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to the restaurant’s recipes and standards. This role requires strong cooking skills, efficiency under pressure, and consistent attention to detail. The Line Cook will also assist with dishwashing duties as needed to support overall kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and execute menu items during service with accuracy and consistency
- Maintain proper station setup, organization, and cleanliness throughout the shift
- Follow all recipes, portioning standards, and presentation guidelines
- Assist with dishwasher duties, including washing, organizing, and restocking kitchen wares during slower periods or when needed
- Support inventory rotation, labeling, and proper food storage
- Uphold all health, sanitation, and safety guidelines
- Communicate clearly with kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Assist team members as needed to ensure smooth service flow

Qualifications

- Previous line cook or professional kitchen experience preferred
- Strong knife skills and understanding of basic cooking techniques

Prep Cook/Dishwasher

Position Summary
The Prep Cook / Dishwasher supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, completing mise en place, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. This blended role includes both food preparation and dishwashing responsibilities, ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

- Complete daily prep tasks including chopping, portioning, batching recipes, and organizing station supplies
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and maintain a clean, organized dish area
- Label, date, rotate, and properly store all prepared items
- Maintain cleanliness of prep areas, coolers, equipment, and workspaces
- Follow prep lists and recipes provided by chefs
- Assist with cooking tasks as needed
- Support garbage removal, sweeping, mopping, and general kitchen upkeep
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards

Qualifications

- Prior prep or kitchen experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate
- Strong work ethic, efficiency, and attention to detail
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic knife skills and willingness to learn
